Mr. Gast is an entrepreneur with over 30 years industrial experience, including business development, industrial sales, marketing and technical support and analytical chemistry.
He earned a masters degree in chemistry from University of Cincinnati in 1986, after earning degrees in chemistry and German from Vanderbilt University, where he graduated Phi Beta Kappa and magna cum laude.
During the course of his career, he has worked at The Seven-up Company, Mallinckrodt Chemical and Tekmar div Emerson. Since 1990 Mr. Gast has been a sales executive in the Carl F. Gast company, the third generation in a company that was founded by his grandparents in 1935. He currently serves as CEO and treasurer. In 2005, he started ARCH Paper to re-purpose post-consumer cotton textiles and clothing.
Mr. Gast is presently a member of the Soulard Artists Guild in Historic Soulard and is a past chair of the St. Louis Section of the American Chemical Society. He is also a founding sponsor of Kids n Chemistry, an outreach project at the St. Louis Science center, which provides hands on science activities to over 600 children (aged 6 to 18).
